POSTER SERIES | SPRING 2026
Typography 2| Objective: Create a three-poster series for the topic, “Grit and Greatness: Records, Rivalries, and River City Pride” using typography. Each poster differs in typographic structure and composition to highlight the legacy of three female athletes from the Cincinnati Area: Dorothy "Dottie" Kamenshek, Mary Wineburg, and Amber Campbell.
THE WHO | CINCINNATI'S FEMALE ATHLETES
Dorothy "Dottie" Kamenshek was the first-ever famous female baseball player in the 1950's, Mary Wineburg was an Olympic Gold Medalist in the 4x400 meter relay during the 2008 Olympics, and Amber Campbell was a three-time Olympian, placing sixth in the 2016 Olympics (highest ever for an American woman). Although they competed at different times, all three women were born and raised in the Cincinnati area-and these posters honor their legacy.

TYPOGRAPHY WORKSHOP
During the type workshop, we were given a whole array of materials to work with, and I experimented with painting, ripping paper, and refracting light in different ways.
PHYSICAL IDEATION
Physical ideation is best for getting a wide range of ideas down all at once. I incorporated elements from the typography workshop into my posters. I liked the images that indicated "shattered" glass the best, as I felt it communicated that women break barriers even in sports, a field long dominated by men.

CREATING THE SERIES
After narrowing down my concept, I began sketching my series of posters. I imagined that all of the posters would utilize the same dynamic axis, the huge type in the background, and a set color palette to create cohesion.

DIGITAL ITERATION AND REFINEMENT
Once my elements were defined, my poster series really started to come together. Below are four images that show the evolution of the series up until the final version.
